2016 Game Highlights – Soccer
NYSD’s soccer team traveled to The Masters School at Dobbs Ferry, NY on Thursday, October 13, 2016. Both teams played very well despite the rain and wet field conditions. As a result, both teams struggled to control the ball and the game ended in a tied score of 1-1. Freshman, Christian G., scored NYSD’s goal off an assist from Yazeed A. In the first half junior goalkeeper, Fernando T. made 15 saves for NYSD.
The current record is 0-5-2.
The next game is at NYSD against Germans School at 4:00 PM on October 19, 2016.

NYSD 2 vs ASD 3
NYSD soccer traveled to Hartford, CT to face American School for the Deaf (ASD) for the second time this season on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. The team ended the first half frustrated, as they were unable to score on even 1 of their 12 shots on ASD’s goal.
Entering into the second half with a score 0-2, the team found their groove and worked like team, scoring one goal early on. NYSD then won a penalty and scored their second goal.
Coaches, Nicolas and Paul, felt that the boys improved a great deal in second half, improving upon their passing game and shots on goal.
NYSD’s next game is away vs. The Masters School at 4:30pm on Thursday.

NYSD 1 vs MPS 1
On October 7, NYSD’s soccer team traveled to Framingham, MA to play against Marie Phillip School (MPS). NYSD performed very well in both halves, and Chris P. took advantage of a penalty kick, putting the ball in the net for Fanwood. The game ended with a tie score, bring Fanwood’s record to 0-4-1.

On Wednesday, September 28, Fanwood traveled to New Jersey School for the Deaf for their 2nd game of season. The team played very well in first half as Yazeed A., scored the first goal of season from a great pass by Carlos V. A quick 10 minutes later, Ramon “Georgian” U. scored the team’s second goal with an assist from Martin T.
In the second half, NYSD made a few crucial errors and allowed an own goal, when Goal Keeper, Joey P., accidentally deflected the ball in wrong direction. NJSD’s scored their second goal as a result of NYSD’s goal keeper misreading the angle of their shot. The game ended in a 2-2 tied score, and teams went into overtime. Ultimately, NJSD outplayed Fanwood, and they scored a goal to take the win.

NYSD 0 vs ASD 2
NYSD’s first game of the season fell on Homecoming this year against American School for the Deaf (ASD). This was a special game, as both NYSD and ASD are nearing their 200th Anniversary. NYSD started off a little rusty in the first half, but found their stride and played well. ASD managed to get one in the net and then ASD earned a penalty kick from and NYSD foul in the goal zone, ending the first half with a score of 0-2.
NYSD improved their passing game in the second half and stepped up their defensive game. The team earned a penalty kick opportunity in the second half, but unfortunately missed the net.
